General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems manufactures and sells a broad range of high-performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets. We presently have a need for a Principal Electrical Engineer at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location.
This position involves planning and implementing the design, manufacture, installation, and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, wiring, and power systems/devices, for the generation, transmission, and control of electric power. This role is eligible for a referral bonus.
Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree and 8-10 years of experience.
Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree.
Discipline/Major: Electrical Engineering or related Engineering degree.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Oral and written communication, analytical thinking, circuit design, computer skills, simulation, design optimization, electrical engineering, mathematical analysis, mathematical modeling, programming, prototyping, reliability analysis, requirements engineering/analysis, research and development, schematic capture, electro-mechanical components/instruments, CAD software, and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software.
Critical professional technical skills include proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
