This position will require expertise in Refinery, Olefins, Polymer or Spec Chem process industry or Pulp and Paper or Metal and Mines. This position is for a qualified engineer to join our team in Colombia (Bogota).
Review process flow diagrams and P&IDs, understand process operation, and lead process discussions while providing effective process knowledge transfer to junior engineers.
Design testing and commissioning APC applications, independently execute phases of control projects (pre-test, plant test, analysis, commission), and lead smaller APC projects with minimal supervision.
Understand process issues and their impact on multivariable control design.
Design control strategies and configure medium-complexity multivariable control systems.
Complete database or schematic changes, perform complex data analysis calculations.
Set up and execute controller simulations for medium scope problems.
Understand closed loop control concepts (computer, DCS, PID control, DMC3 tuning) and assist in controller interface database and configuration.
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent; MS or PhD preferred.
8+ years of experience in Multivariable Process Control and Optimization or related fields.
Strong communication and coaching skills.
Proven experience in Refining, Olefins, Polymer processes, or similar; experience in operating companies or consulting firms is a plus.
Ability to manipulate and transform data files for analysis.
Knowledge of multivariable identification, linear programming, and LP cost calculations.
Understanding of closed loop control concepts (DCS, PID, MVC tuning).
Willingness and ability to travel at least 50%, with no visa restrictions.
Fluency in English required.
Proficiency in Aspen online and offline tools.
Experience with AspenTech APC products.
Fluency in additional languages.
