Job Description

Oversee and direct a Consulting Engineering Protection and Control Group that provides engineering solutions to electric utility clients across the US. This technical leadership role requires strong leadership, technical engineering expertise, communication skills, and the ability to coach and mentor others. The role involves developing and executing plans to align business goals with market growth within the Transmission Practice.

The technical manager will ensure the timely delivery of innovative solutions. Success requires proven electric utility expertise, business acumen, and a consulting mindset to deliver technical and business solutions. The role focuses on developing, implementing, supporting, and improving internal project/portfolio management, quality management systems, practice-level financial reporting, controls, and emerging technologies to facilitate efficient operations. Location: United States - REMOTE

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve client satisfaction, technical performance, and employee engagement goals.
2. Develop, support, and improve the Transmission Practice Protection and Control portfolio management system and processes, working with stakeholders to optimize project management regimes.
3. Support and ensure compliance with the Transmission Practice Quality Management System (QMS) and financial project/portfolio reporting, including managing project budgets, schedules, and receivables.
4. Develop and implement technologies and processes to ensure efficient practice operations.
5. Monitor project budgets, plan, control, and allocate resources to meet objectives.
6. Build and maintain strong internal relationships across the enterprise.
7. Collaborate with management on workflow, project scope, risk assessment, issue resolution, and planning.
8. Develop employee performance and development plans, manage talent acquisition and termination processes.

Qualifications:

1. BSEE or similar degree required; MSEE or MBA preferred.
2. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with the ability to take Responsible Charge over PCE Projects.
3. 10+ years of electric utility industry engineering experience, especially in utility-grade transmission Protection and Control Engineering.
4. Expertise in Protection and Control Engineering and Design using ACAD-E.
5. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including PCE experts.
6. Ability to customize Protection and Control offerings to create client value and reduce engagement costs.
7. Entrepreneurial leadership, effective communication, and organizational-building skills; experience in engineering services operations.
8. Team player capable of working in cross-functional, virtual environments.
9. Ability to travel up to 50% as needed.
