Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to set the technical direction for our cloud-native platform, spanning Kubernetes, distributed systems, and hyperscaler infrastructure. You will own the hardest, most ambiguous problems across multiple engineering organizations and drive architectural decisions with senior leaders.

You will mentor staff, design core platform components, and partner with executives to shape the platform's future at scale, including multi-cloud topology and workload

Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI into engineering and platform work.
• 12+ years designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with major hyperscalers and their Kubernetes offerings.
• Proven technical leadership across multiple teams without positional authority.
• Expertise in operator/controller patterns, IaC, and cloud-native tooling.
• Strong Go programming skills and fluency in the cloud-native ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for the cloud-native platform and define architecture standards.
• Own multi-cloud topology, control-plane design, and workload isolation at scale.
• Drive architectural decisions with senior leaders and ensure best practices.
• Assess and trade off managed vs. self-managed solutions and substrate portability.
• Design critical components like control planes, operators, and infrastructure abstractions.
• Mentor senior engineers and shape the organization’s technical leadership.
