Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join the Prisma AIRS team, building the world's most comprehensive AI security platform. You will design, develop, and optimize robust backend systems powering AI security from development through runtime.

You will mentor engineers, own end-to-end features, and collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and infrastructure teams to ensure top-notch reliability and performance for enterprise customers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience building large distributed systems.
• Hands-on programming in Java, Go, or Python or equivalent.
• Experience with GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (Postgres, MySQL, Spanner, BigQuery, MongoDB).
• Neo4j experience is highly desired.
• Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or PubSub.
• Microservices architecture (Kubernetes, Docker, Serverless).
• Strong ownership, urgency, and drive.
• Experience partnering with Product Managers and frontend engineers.
• Experience leading major projects end-to-end.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable software products for secure AI use.
• Own features from concept to production, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and infra teams to shape Palo Alto Networks AI offerings.
• Operate production services for hundreds of enterprise customers with high reliability.
• Develop expertise in new technologies and evolving AI security landscape.
• Mentor junior engineers and uphold high standards of development.
