Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Backend AI Software Integration Engineer to build a multi-tenant GenAI Security Platform. You will focus on backend Python development, creating middleware APIs, data ingestion endpoints, and integration hooks to embed Prisma AIRS across enterprise AI pipelines and partner architectures.

You will work on API design, AI ingestion, and AI gateway integrations, plus architecture blueprints and automated red-teaming pipelines. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in Software Engineering or Systems Integration with a primary emphasis on backend development and cloud security.
• Production-level mastery of Python for asynchronous backend services, API frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, or gRPC) and microservice architectures.
• Experience developing, debugging, and integrating enterprise APIs (REST, gRPC, WebSockets) and API gateways (Envoy, Kong).
• Experience writing code to map, translate, and standardize data formats between systems.
• Experience building middleware, webhooks, and retry logic for high-volume sync traffic and failures.
• Practical experience integrating LLM APIs, vector storage, and agentic protocols/frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, MCP) via backend middleware.
• Ability to create architecture blueprints and secure AI workloads against prompt injection and model vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

• Backend Software & API Engineering: Design, build, and maintain high-performance, asynchronous REST/gRPC microservices, background job workers, and database schemas in Python.
• AI Ingestion & Integration Hooks: Develop API endpoints, webhook receivers, and data ingestion hooks for LLM prompts, contexts, and agent logs.
• AI Gateways & Agent Workflows: Build middleware logic and AI Gateway integrations linking model providers and agent frameworks with security controls and policy enforcement.
• Solution Architecture & Blueprints: Create technical architecture diagrams and integration blueprints for Prisma AIRS across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Automated Red-Teaming & API Exposure: Engineer pipelines for automated LLM probing and expose endpoints for telemetry to dashboards and SIEM.
• Technical Onboarding: Provide documentation/SDKs to speed integration with partner software.
• Travel: This role may require travel.
