Job summary

Ford Pro Telematics team seeks a Principal Engineer to lead architectural vision and build data-intensive web services for fleet optimization. You will design large-scale SaaS platforms, APIs, and frontends in a high-scale SaaS environment.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Product and Business, and drive standard practices, tooling, and incident management across Ford Engineering. This is a leadership role with strong impact.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with a leadership/architectural track record.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years designing and building scalable data-intensive web apps and SaaS products.
• 5+ years API development with Java or Kotlin and frontend frameworks like React/AngularJS.
• 5+ years experience with relational and NoSQL databases and high-volume data pipelines.
• Proven ability leading across engineering teams and establishing scalable practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural vision for large-scale, data-intensive SaaS applications across multiple teams.
• Mentor, coach, and grow junior and mid-level engineers to ensure technical excellence.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Business to shape strategy and translate requirements into scalable designs.
• Scope, estimate, and blueprint multi-quarter initiatives with capacity planning.
• Lead hands-on development of core components and set standards for quality, reliability, and deployment.
