Job summary

Vista Equity Partners seeks a Director, Principal Architect - Agentic Engineering to lead the technical execution of the Agentic Engineering Factory framework across portfolio companies. You will work hands-on with engineering teams to apply AI and agentic technologies through the software lifecycle, translating lessons into scalable architectures and standards.

The role requires deep technical expertise, enterprise architecture experience, and the ability to partner credibly with CTOs,

Qualifications

• 12+ years of production software engineering experience.
• Architecture ownership across multiple teams with enterprise-scale standards.
• Proven track record delivering production systems in large orgs.
• 2+ years hands-on use of frontier AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex).
• Experience building production agentic systems with orchestration and human-in-the-loop design.
• Strong cloud expertise across AWS, Azure, GCP, CI/CD, containers, observability, and security controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical execution of agentic engineering transformations at portfolio companies.
• Assess engineering environments and identify high-impact AI use cases.
• Collaborate with engineers to build agentic capabilities, including agents and evaluation frameworks.
• Resolve technical challenges across repositories, workflows, and evaluation methods.
• Develop reusable reference architectures and internal standards for the Vista portfolio.
• Establish controls for identity, permissions, and auditability with human-in-the-loop decisions.
• Evaluate AI platforms and tooling while maintaining vendor independence.
• Partner with CTOs and leaders to build sustainable internal capabilities and operating models.
• Enable portfolio teams to apply the Agentic Engineering Factory framework.
