Vista Equity Partners is seeking a Director, Principal Architect – Agentic Engineering to lead the Agentic Engineering Factory across portfolio companies, guiding hands-on with engineering teams to apply AI and agentic technologies throughout the software lifecycle.

The role combines deep technical expertise with enterprise architecture and the ability to partner with CTOs and executives to establish reusable architectures, evaluation frameworks, and standards that scale across the Vista

Qualifications

• 12+ years in production software engineering across principal/architect roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical execution of agentic engineering transformations at Vista portfolio companies from assessment to implementation and handoff.
• Assess engineering environments for readiness, AI adoption, infra gaps and high-impact use cases.
• Hands-on with portfolio engineers to build agentic capabilities: knowledge layers, agents, orchestration, evaluations, guardrails, observability.
• Diagnose and resolve technical challenges across repos, workflows, agent configurations, and evaluation frameworks.
• Develop reusable reference architectures, agent libraries, standards, evaluation frameworks, and patterns for the Vista portfolio.
• Establish controls for identity, permissions, evaluation, auditability, escalation, and human-in-the-loop decisions.
• Evaluate AI platforms, models, and tooling while maintaining vendor independence.
• Partner with CTOs and engineering leaders to build sustainable internal capabilities and operating models.
• Enable Vista teams to successfully apply the Agentic Engineering Factory framework.
• Establish standards and acceptance criteria for external integrators and delivery partners.
