Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Principal Software Engineer / Architect – AI to join the CoCounsel Forward Deployed Engineering organization. You will work directly with customers to solve complex problems, design and build production AI solutions, and shape how customer-driven innovation strengthens the CoCounsel product.

This role blends deep software architecture with hands-on coding, guiding architectural direction, security, and deployment in enterprise environments while actively contributing

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with leadership at Principal/Architect level.
• Hands-on experience writing, reviewing, and debugging production code.
• Deep experience designing and delivering complex production software systems.
• Significant experience with AI/ML, Generative AI, or LLM-powered systems in production.
• Experience architecting AI solutions integrating with enterprise infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, cloud architecture, security, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex customer and technical engagements end to end from discovery to production deployment.
• Design, build, and deploy production AI solutions within enterprise environments and review production code.
• Set architectural direction across AI, distributed systems, integrations, security and deployment.
• Translate customer needs into scalable product capabilities in partnership with Product/Engineering.
• Mentor Senior/Staff engineers and influence technical direction across teams.
• Communicate complex decisions clearly to engineers, product leaders, executives, and customers.
