Job summary

HP is seeking a Principal AI Runtime & Performance Lead to define architecture and performance strategy for AI workloads across HP PCs. You will translate product goals into system-level requirements and guide model execution across CPU, GPU, and NPU resources.

You will lead cross-functional teams, shape roadmaps, and mentor engineers, delivering responsive, efficient AI experiences while balancing power, thermal, and hardware constraints across diverse HP platforms.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, systems architecture, or runtime systems with technical leadership.
• Experience defining architecture and performance strategy for AI runtimes or inference platforms.
• Strong understanding of heterogeneous computing (CPU, GPU, NPU) and resource utilization.
• Strong Linux and Windows expertise; impact of OS on runtime design.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for AI runtime architecture and performance across PC platforms and hardware configurations.
• Define model execution strategies across CPU, GPU, and NPU resources balancing responsiveness, throughput, and memory/power constraints.
• Determine runtime design influences based on model types and workload patterns.
• Establish architectural approaches for concurrent agents and models under system pressure.
• Translate customer experience goals into performance budgets and design principles for engineering teams.
• Define benchmark methodologies and workload scenarios to evaluate architectural choices.
