Job summary

Summit Utilities is seeking a Principal Accountant (SGL17) to join our Shared Services & Operations Accounting team. The role supports the Senior Accounting Manager with journal entries, reconciliations, and special projects, in a dynamic utility setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of accounting experience.
• Minimum 3 years in a regulated utility preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the team; ensure policy compliance.
• Research and ensure GAAP compliance; review journal entries.
• Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements package and other reports.
• Support audits with FP&A, Regulatory, Operations, Engineering and Program Management.
• Assist regulatory rate filings and data requests.
• Lead system knowledge; resolve system issues and enhancements.
• Assist training of new employees and new systems.
