Job summary

Summit Utilities, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Principal Accountant (SGL17) to serve as the go-to person for the Shared Services and Operations Accounting team, supporting journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.

This role requires strong GAAP knowledge, analytical ability, leadership, and clear communication as you collaborate with FP&A, Regulatory, Operations, Engineering and Program Management to resolve issues and assist with audits and regulatory filings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of accounting experience.
• Minimum 3 years in a regulated utility preferred.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the team, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations.
• Close monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support audits and regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Regulatory, Operations, Engineering and Program Management.
• Lead system knowledge and resolve system issues.
• Assist with training of new employees and systems.
