Job summary

Summit Utilities, Inc. is seeking a Principal Accountant (SGL17) to be the go-to person for the Shared Services and Operations Accounting team. The role supports the Senior Accounting Manager with journal entries, reconciliations, research, analyses, and special projects.

The position offers hybrid options or remote work in Texas. Requires 7+ years in accounting, 3+ years in a regulated utility, a Bachelor's in accounting, and CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience.
• Minimum 3 years in a regulated utility preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• Advanced degree preferred; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Shared Services & Operations Accounting team and support the Senior Accounting Manager.
• Prepare and/or review journal entries and reconciliations for multiple entities.
• Review monthly variance analysis and assist with monthly financial statements package.
• Support interim and annual audits and coordinate with FP&A, Regulatory, Operations, and Engineering.
• Assist with regulatory rate filings and data requests.
• Become the primary systems knowledge owner and lead resolution/training efforts.
