Job summary

Summit Utilities, Inc. seeks a Principal Accountant (SGL17) to support the Shared Services and Operations Accounting team with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close. You will partner with FP&A, Regulatory, Operations, and Engineering to resolve issues and ensure GAAP compliance for service, debt holding, and utility entities.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of accounting experience, a Bachelor's in accounting, and preferably an advanced degree or CPA/CPA candidate.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting experience
• Regulated utility experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in accounting required
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead journal entries and reconciliations per month-end close.
• Research GAAP rules and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Prepare and review journal entries for service, debt holding, and utility entities.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Assist with audits and regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Regulatory, Operations, Engineering, and PM to resolve issues.
• Provide training and system knowledge to staff.
