Job summary

Banner Health in Peoria is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support clinicians and nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care. You will prepare patients, assist with exams and procedures, manage referrals and scheduling, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced clinic environment.

The role requires an approved MA training program, active certification, BLS, strong computer skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
• Active Medical Assistant Certification (RMA/CMA/CCMA/NCMA) with proof of current membership.
• BLS certification required.
• Strong computer skills and ability to work with medical software.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an organized fashion.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card for Behavioral Health settings, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams by taking vital signs and documenting chief complaints.
• Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures; perform phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKGs as needed.
• Coordinate patient care: referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling; communicate test results.
• Provide clerical support and maintain medical records; ensure accurate billing information.
• Maintain clean exam rooms and equipment; follow sterilization and safety protocols.
• Order supplies and manage medication inventory.
• Develop and maintain effective communication with patients and staff.
• Complete onboarding/orientation activities and work under provider supervision.
• Prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family decisions.
