Job summary

Optum is seeking a Primary Care Physician in California to provide outpatient, patient-centered care within an integrated care model. You will conduct consultations, follow-ups, well-checks, and screenings for adults and seniors.

Qualifications

• MD or DO is required.
• Residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine completed.
• Board Certification or Board Eligible for medical residents.
• Active and unrestricted California Medical License or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Current California DEA certificate or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain prior to start.
• EMR proficiency is expected.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient care management.
• Conduct consultations, follow-up visits, well-checks, and screenings.
• Care for adults and seniors; typical daily census 18–20 patients.
• Schedule: 40 min for new patients, 20 min for follow-ups; dedicated nursing support.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic (D.O.)
• Completion of an accredited residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, or Board Eligible for medical residents
• Active and unrestricted California Medical License or ability to obtain prior to start
• Current California DEA certificate or ability to obtain prior to startCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain prior to start
• EMR Proficient

Position Highlights & Primary Responsibilities:

• Monday - Friday / 8am - 5pm (no call, no weekends)
• Manage patient care in an outpatient setting
• Conduct consultations, follow-up appointments, well-checks, and schedule screenings
• Comfortable seeing patients of all ages, primarily adults/seniors
• Average Daily Patient Census: 18-20 patients
• Appointment schedule: 40 min new patient, 20 min follow-up patient visits
• Dedicated support staff of nurses and medical assistants

The actual range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement.
