Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking a Pricing & Risk Analyst to help identify profitable growth opportunities by state and segment. You will translate policy, quote, and claims data into actionable pricing recommendations and work with Databricks Genie and Claude Code to automate analyses.

This entry-level role is designed for curious, detail-oriented individuals who want to learn how analytics shape pricing and risk decisions, with guidance from experienced colleagues and exposure to AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business, computer science, or related field.
• Foundational SQL skills and proficiency with Excel or similar spreadsheet tools.
• Experience analyzing data to identify patterns, investigate questions, and explain findings.
• Hands-on experience using AI for analytical or coding tasks, and willingness to work with Claude Code, Databricks Genie, and MCP-enabled workflows.
• Attention to detail and ability to explain findings in plain language.
• Willingness to learn pricing, underwriting, and risk analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own recurring state performance reporting on quote volume, conversion, new business, premium, retention, and loss experience.
• Analyze performance across geography, risk characteristics, coverage, and distribution channels to surface growth opportunities.
• Evaluate how proposed rate changes and underwriting rules could affect growth and profitability.
• Build and maintain competitive research for state comparisons and product opportunities.
• Use Databricks Genie to explore data and Claude Code to write SQL queries and automate reports.
• Bring data and business context into analytical workflows with MCP connections.
• Validate data, calculations, and AI outputs; document sources and assumptions.
• Deliver clear charts and concise summaries for Pricing and Risk and partner teams.
