Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an entry-level Pricing & Risk Analyst to help identify profitable state-by-state growth opportunities. You’ll analyze policy, quote, and claims data, collaborate with state managers, and translate findings into actionable pricing guidance using SQL, Excel, and AI tools.

The role emphasizes learning insurance metrics, pricing, segmentation, and state performance, with mentorship from experienced colleagues. This is a remote-friendly position within the United States.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of relevant experience; internships, coursework, and analytical projects count.
• Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business, computer science, or related field.
• Foundational SQL skills and proficiency with Excel or similar spreadsheet tools.
• Experience analyzing data to identify patterns, investigate questions, and explain findings.
• Hands-on experience using AI for analytical or coding tasks, and familiarity with Claude Code, Databricks Genie, and MCP workflows.
• Attention to detail and the ability to question and verify AI-generated results.
• Ability to explain findings in plain language, stay curious, and manage assignments with guidance.

Responsibilities

• Own recurring state performance reporting on quote volume, conversion, new business, premium, retention, and loss experience.
• Analyze performance across geography, risk characteristics, coverage, and distribution channels.
• Evaluate how rate changes and underwriting rules could affect growth and profitability.
• Build and maintain competitive research for state comparisons and pricing opportunities.
• Use Databricks Genie and Claude Code to explore data, write SQL, automate reports.
• Deliver clear charts and concise summaries to Pricing and Risk and partner teams.
• Measure performance after pricing and product changes go live.
