The Home Depot is seeking a Manager of Pricing Strategy to lead cross-functional pricing initiatives, develop insights from data, and drive pricing decisions across categories. You will collaborate with merchants, Pro teams, and subsidiaries to test hypotheses and prioritize IT development that supports pricing strategy.

You will develop relationships with stakeholders, create executive-level presentations, and oversee Senior Analysts to implement pricing best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Retail pricing or merchandising experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with large data sets.
  • Excellent communication to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with cross-functional partners to determine goals, conduct analysis, and recommend pricing decisions and strategies.
  • Analyze marketplace trends, segmentation, line structure, localization, promotional effectiveness, and customer psychology.
  • Develop executive-level presentations showing analysis, rationale, and financial impact.
  • Report to management; ensure accuracy and viability of recommendations.
  • Communicate with leadership to gain alignment and coordinate with IT to prioritize efforts.
  • Supervise and mentor analysts; coordinate multiple work groups and forecast resourcing.

Job description

The Manager, Pricing Strategy will provide subject matter expertise, project management, and analytical support to the development and execution of Pricing Strategies. The Manager will understand the needs of constituencies, including the merchants, Pro team, and our subsidiaries, to develop and test hypothesis as well as to work with the development team to prioritize IT development. The Manager will work with cross functional partners, including marketing, ops, strategy and others to ensure end to end thinking on strategy and execution. The Pricing Manager will manage Senior Analysts in an effort to support corporate level pricing initiatives and advocate for implementing pricing best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 50% Develop relationships with cross functional partners to collaborate and to determine company goals and objectives, conduct standard and ad hoc analysis to identify key drivers of performance, recommend pricing decisions and strategies that will improve category performance and develop financial plans that reflect pricing changes.
  • Typical analysis will include: (a) marketplace and macroeconomic trends impacting the category including competitive assessment, (b) customer segmentation and responsiveness (c) line structure and line structure engineering, (d) localization, including defining pricing zone definition, (e) promotional effectiveness, (f) transaction and basket penetration, (g) consumer psychology.
  • Develop executive-level presentations that summarize analysis including historical performance, strategic rationale underpinning pricing decisions and expected financial impact.
  • Report out to all levels of management. Accountable for accuracy, thoroughness, thought process, timeliness and viability of recommendations.
  • 50% Develop the necessary communication to leadership to gain alignment and partner with IT and other cross functional teams to prioritize efforts that support the execution of strategies.
  • Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.

  • This position reports to Director, Pricing
Travel Requirements:
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in a quantitative field (statistics, economics, analytics, etc)
  • Prior experience in retail Pricing
  • Prior experience in merchandising, planning and analysis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills including demonstrated aptitude with financial analysis and ability to generate insight from large and complex data sets
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to effectively articulate viewpoint to executive leadership and ability to write compelling executive level presentations
  • Strong project management skills and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong financial acumen including experience with the retail and cost methods of accounting
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
