Job summary

Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a 2nd shift Maintenance Mechanic to support Preventive Maintenance across campus, performing routine maintenance and repairs to keep buildings and systems safe and functional.

You will work both independently and as part of a skilled team, tackling HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general construction tasks as needed.

A shift differential of 10% applies for evenings/nights when you work between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Substitution allowed for Experience: Yes, when a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections and routine maintenance, troubleshoots and repairs building HVAC systems.
• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems including domestic hot and cold water and sanitary sewer.
• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical systems including lights, devices, fan motors, and breakers.
• Carpentry tasks such as door repair and replacement, window repair and replacement, furniture repair and replacement.
• Maintains indoor and outdoor surfaces, painting and related maintenance to extend service life.
• Assists in brick work, concrete, flooring, and general construction.
• Communicates with coworkers and management to complete repairs in a timely, quality manner.
• Assist in furniture removal, installation, relocation and setup.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

3 years journeyman level experience in building maintenance, electrical repair, plumbing repair, carpentry, and/or trades
