Job summary

Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a hands-on 2nd shift Maintenance Mechanic to support preventive maintenance across campus buildings, grounds, and facilities. You will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and repair diverse systems as part of a skilled team and independently when needed.

The role includes shift differential eligibility and opportunities to contribute to safe, functional, and welcoming campus environments for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Experience in building maintenance or related trades is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections and routine maintenance of building environmental systems including heating, cooling, and ventilation.
• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems (domestic hot/cold, sanitary sewer).
• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical systems (lights, devices, breakers).
• Performs carpentry tasks (door/window repair, furniture repair).
• Maintains surfaces through painting, cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
• Assists with brick, concrete, flooring, and general construction tasks as needed.
• Communicates with supervisors and coworkers to schedule repairs and ensure timely completion.
• Assists in furniture removal, installation, relocation, and setup.
