Job summary

nVent in Cleveland, OH is seeking a press operator with 3+ years of progressive die stamping experience to set up and run heavy-duty power presses. You will read blueprints, adjust tooling, and ensure parts meet specifications while maintaining a safe and organized work area.

Relocation assistance is offered, and a $5,000 hiring bonus accompanies a compensation up to $40 per hour. Candidates should have a high school diploma and proven ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy-duty power press to bend, form, stretch and straighten products per blueprints, layout, and templates.
• Plan sequence of operations applying knowledge of materials.
• Assist setup and operate multiple automatic and/or multi-slide presses for stamping products.
• Work from drawings, route sheets, schedules, written, and verbal instructions.
• Check material for correct size and type, load coils, adjust uncoiler and material rollers.
• Assist with setup of complicated progressive dies, movable and stationary forming blocks; adjust stroke and feed.
• Use micrometers, calipers, scales, and fixed gauges to check work in process and ensure adherence to specifications.
• Move materials using lift truck or crane as necessary.
• Install and check safety devices as needed for specific jobs.
• Report faulty equipment, defective material and unusual conditions to supervisor.
• Observe all prescribed safety rules and maintain a neat and orderly work area.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed, which may require more than the normal shift hours or work week to meet company needs.
