Job summary

Tulsa World, a Lee Enterprises company, seeks a Press Operator for the night shift to support newspaper production. Training will occur during the day. You will operate and maintain press components, load pasters, and ensure quality under deadline pressure.

Responsibilities include loading plates, controlling ink viscosity, cleaning equipment, and maintaining press readiness throughout runs. High school diploma or GED required; printing experience preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Printing/press experience preferred but not required.
• Able to work night shift and participate in day training when needed.

Responsibilities

• Makes paster patterns and operates paster controls to load pasters and operate splicing sequence.
• Spot plates according to job press order; mount plates into the slot lock up accurately.
• Lead webs manually with different configurations to guide press webs through press units to the folder.
• Stir ink, check viscosity and monitor ink feed functions to printing units before and during press runs.
• Clean press, pipe rollers, press cylinder blankets with cleaning solvents and wipe ink spills.
• Set up and maintain the operation of presses before and during press runs.
• Handle routine job tasks daily, maintaining accuracy while meeting deadlines.

Press Operator – Night Shift

Tulsa World,a Lee Enterprises company, and print and digital media solutions provider for broadcast and traditional news media, is seeking a Press Operator. The Press Operator is a vital role in the production of our newspapers and various other print products. This position is on the night shift, but will have initial training period during the day.

Press Operators will be required to operate and maintain press components and controls, quickly grasp a thorough understanding of every facet of the pressroom, maintain a commitment to quality and work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Makes paster patterns and operates paster controls to load pasters and operate splicing sequence.
• Spot plates according to job press order, mount plates involving reaching in and mounting plates into the slot lock up accurate
• Manually lead webs with different web configurations involving reaching in and over to guide press webs over rollers through press units, across superstructure rollers to press folder based on specific press configuration
• Stir ink, check viscosity and monitor ink feed functions to printing units before and during press run.
• Clean press, pipe rollers, press cylinder blankets with cleaning solvents and wipes up any ink spills
• Responsible for setting up and maintaining the operation of presses before and during press runs.
• Expected to handle routine job tasks on a day to day basis, maintaining accuracy while meeting deadlines.
