Job summary

Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company is seeking a Press Operator for our Grand Rapids, MI facility. The role involves operating precision presses on the 1st shift, performing tooling changes and setups, and monitoring quality and production metrics.

The ideal candidate brings press operation experience, blueprint reading ability, and proficiency with inspection tools. We value safety, accuracy, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment while lifting up to 35 lbs.

Qualifications

• Press operator experience is required.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges and comparators to verify parts.
• Basic reading, writing, computer and math skills.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand basic English.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Lift up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate precision presses safely and consistently, including starting, stopping, feeding material, and monitoring production.
• Assist with tooling changes, material changes, adjustments, and machine setups.
• Recognize defects such as bends, dimensional variation, burrs, cracks, or other nonconforming conditions.
• Monitor cycle performance, scrap, production quantities, downtime, and quality during runs.

What Will You Get To Do

• Operate precision slide/multi-slide or four-slide presses safely and consistently, including starting, stopping, feeding material, and monitoring production
• Assist with performing tooling changes, material changes, adjustments, and machine setups
• Recognize defects such as incorrect bends, dimensional variation, burrs, cracks, scratches, deformation, or other nonconforming conditions
• Monitor the cycle performance, scrap, production quantities, downtime, and quality throughout the run
