Job summary

Knape & Vogt is seeking a Press Operator to join our Grand Rapids manufacturing team. The role focuses on operating punch/transfer presses, performing tooling changes, and ensuring quality throughout runs in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous punch press and transfer press experience.
• Die setting experience.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Experience using inspection equipment to verify parts meet specifications.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand basic English.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate precision slide/multi-slide or four-slide presses safely and consistently, including starting, stopping, feeding material, and monitoring production.
• Assist with performing tooling changes, material changes, adjustments, and machine setups.
• Recognize defects such as incorrect bends, dimensional variation, burrs, cracks, scratches, deformation, or other nonconforming conditions.
• Monitor the cycle performance, scrap, production quantities, downtime, and quality throughout the run.
