Job summary

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development seeks a Construction Project Manager to oversee preservation projects in design phase for multi-family housing, ensuring compliance with NYC building codes, zoning, and accessibility standards. The role focuses on scope development, cost estimation, and liaison with architects and engineers.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or equivalent with five years of full-time construction project management/inspection experience.
• Experience managing projects with total cost of at least $300,000 per year of experience.
• Valid motor vehicle driver license in New York State for eligible assignments.
• Thorough knowledge of NYC building codes, zoning, and accessibility standards.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site walk-throughs and inspections; prepare intake reports and scope verifications.
• Develop scopes of work and cost estimates for preservation and maintenance programs.
• Review drawings and specifications for code compliance and accessibility requirements.
• Participate in design, inspection, construction, and permit processes; assist with certificates of occupancy.
• Engage in research related to architectural functions and agency activities.
