Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development is seeking a Design Reviewer to join the Preservation Design Review Team. You will work with the Deputy Director on Moderate Rehabilitation projects, reviewing submissions for adherence to Preservation Design Guidelines and accessibility standards.

You will coordinate with external development teams, prepare drawings and specifications, and participate in inspections and permit processes to support multi-family housing preservation across NYC.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of full-time experience managing and/or inspecting design or construction projects with total cost thresholds.
• Relevant licensure or eligibility is preferred (PE/RA).
• Strong knowledge of NYC building and construction codes, preservation standards, and accessibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate design submissions for preservation projects to ensure compliance with codes, rules and regulations.
• Prepare and review drawings, maps, plans, scopes of work, and specifications for housing projects.
• Conduct building inspections to verify accessibility and design standard compliance.
• Provide design consultations to external teams during schematic design phases.
• Help supervise design, inspection, and construction to ensure contract compliance and permits issuance.
