Job summary

The University of Minnesota is seeking a temporary casual staff member for the Collection Management & Preservation Department at Wilson Library. The role supports preventative preservation, rehousing, assessments, and treatment documentation, with a 14-hour work week, Monday–Friday, between 9am and 5pm.

Under supervision, you will help care for special collections, document work, and contribute to preservation workflows while gaining hands-on experience in library conservation practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Able to work around dust and odors with protective equipment.

Responsibilities

• Rehousing and basic treatment of collection materials.
• Assist with collection assessment and condition reporting.
• Write treatment proposals and document work photographically.
• Support preventative preservation and emergency readiness.
