Job summary

University of Minnesota is seeking a temporary casual staff member to support preservation efforts in the Collection Management & Preservation Department. Responsibilities include basic conservation tasks, condition reporting, and documentation of treatment work for the library’s special collections.

The role offers part-time hours (up to 14 per week) at Wilson Library, with a schedule of Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm. This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain focus on repetitive tasks.
• Willingness to learn new software and adapt to tools used in preservation work.
• Experience with Gmail/Office/Google Suite preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Rehousing and basic treatment tasks for collections materials and documentation.
• Assist with collection assessments and recording data via forms.
• Write treatment proposals and document outcomes with photos under supervision.
• Support preventative preservation and related building-wide activities.
