Job summary

Community Action Agency Of Oklahoma seeks a Kitchen Cook to support Head Start meals, ensuring nutritious, economical options in line with USDA Child Care Program standards. You will work with staff, parents, and the Nutrition Specialist to provide meals, menus, and education.

The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years cooking experience, and the ability to obtain a Food Handler's permit. Travel to offsite locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• 2+ years paid experience in food preparation from basic recipes.
• Must meet state requirements including fingerprinting.
• Good health and personal hygiene.
• Ability to obtain Food Handler's permit.
• Willing to attend continued training in the field.
• Have transportation and Oklahoma driver's license.
• Ability to work with diverse cultures and preschool children.
• No physical restrictions precluding duties.
• Meet required Work Environment standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves meals for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
• Develops cycle menus with guidance from Nutrition Specialist and staff.
• Maintains kitchen equipment in sanitary condition; performs preventive maintenance.
• Keeps records of meals served and food quantities used.
• Maintains inventory and records of foods purchased and vendors.
• Manages storage of food per health and safety rules.
• Assists in planning parent nutrition and education activities.
• Ensures proper sanitation, safety, and cleanliness of the kitchen.
• Occasional travel to offsite locations for program needs.
• Develops and tests new recipes and products.
