Job summary

Wonderspring, a nonprofit early childhood education organization in Philadelphia, is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the PHLpreK/PreK Counts program at the New Market West Center.

You will assist the Lead Teacher with daily lesson plans, supervise children, and help with classroom routines while maintaining confidentiality and collaborating with the School District partnership. A CDA and 2+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CD A or higher credential preferred.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, activities, and routines.
• Supervise children in your care.
• Assist with all tasks associated with the daily schedule.
• Follow CACFP procedures for meal service and family-style serving where applicable.
• Attend staff meetings, in-services, and trainings to support professional development.
• Observe and document child progress and share updates with families.

Available Positions: PHLpreK and PreK Counts Assistant

Location: Wonderspring – New Market West Center

Pay: $17.00 -19.10 per hour

About The Position

Wonderspring, a nonprofit early childhood education organization, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to support our PHLpreK/ PreK Counts Program at our New Market West Center in a Preschool classroom.

About The Role

In this role, you will support the Lead Teacher in one of our funded programs as part of our partnership with the Philadelphia School District.

• Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, learning activities, and classroom routines
• Supervise children in your care
• Assist with all tasks associated with the daily schedule
• Teachers in programs participating in CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) must follow additional serving and preparation procedures, including implementing family-style serving.
• Engage in Wonderspring staff meetings, attend in-services, external training programs, and actively participate in center events to foster professional development, collaboration, and a cohesive team environment
• Follow and adhere to the responsibilities outlined by the lead teacher for the classroom.
• Comply with the partnership requirements of PHLpreK/ PreK Counts
• Develop a strong relationship with your School District team
• Observe, document, and celebrate each child’s progress, sharing their victories (big and small) with proud parents

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA)
• 2+ years of experience working with children
• Strong teamwork and flexibility
• Ability to keep information private
• Basic knowledge of childcare rules
• Must obtain all required clearances and complete a Health Assessment with TB screening prior to employment
