Job summary

Wonderspring is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the PHLpreK/PreK Counts program at the New Market West Center. You will assist the Lead Teacher with lesson plans, supervise children, and help manage daily routines in a Preschool classroom.

In this nonprofit role, you will participate in staff trainings and center events to foster collaboration and professional growth, adhering to program requirements and maintaining child progress records for families.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in daily lesson plans, activities, and routines.
• Supervise children and assist with the daily schedule tasks.
• Assist with CACFP procedures and family-style serving requirements as applicable.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and center events for professional development.
• Follow lead teacher guidance and partner with PHLpreK/PreK Counts requirements.
• Develop relationships with School District teams and communicate student progress to parents.

Location: Wonderspring - New Market West Center

Pay: $17.00 -19.10 per hour

About the Position

Wonderspring, a nonprofit early childhood education organization, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to support our PHLpreK/ PreK Counts Program at our New Market West Center in a Preschool classroom.

About the Role

In this role, you will support the Lead Teacher in one of our funded programs as part of our partnership with the Philadelphia School District.

• Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, learning activities, and classroom routines.
• Supervise children in your care
• Assist with all tasks associated with the daily schedule
• Teachers in programs participating in CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) must follow additional serving and preparation procedures, including implementing family-style serving.
• Engage in Wonderspring staff meetings, attend in-services, external training programs, and actively participate in center events to foster professional development, collaboration, and a cohesive team environment
• Follow and adhere to the responsibilities outlined by the lead teacher for the classroom.
• Comply with the partnership requirements of PHLpreK/ PreK Counts.
• Develop a strong relationship with your School District team
• Observe, document, and celebrate each child’s progress, sharing their victories (big and small) with proud parents.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA)
• 2+ years of experience working with children
• Strong teamwork and flexibility
• Ability to keep information private
• Basic knowledge of childcare rules
• Must obtain all required clearances and complete a Health Assessment with TB screening prior to employment.
