Job summary

Central Council Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes seeks a Teacher Aide for Head Start in Klawock. You will assist the Lead Teacher in delivering lesson plans, conducting family visits, and leading large and small groups of children in a welcoming classroom setting.

The role involves screenings, ILPs where applicable, and maintaining confidential records. The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, a CDA credential (or enrolled in a path towards one), and 1 year of early childhood

Qualifications

• Must meet state and federal regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of program rules and confidentiality obligations.
• Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
• Proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with Alaska Native cultures, especially Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher with lesson plans and classroom activities.
• Prepare materials and assist with mealtimes and supervision.
• Conduct screenings, observations, and ILP development as applicable.
• Attend staff meetings and help develop weekly lesson plans and activities.
• Manage small groups and evaluate activity effectiveness.
• Assist with transitions and parent/committee meetings as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date, confidential student files and documentation.
