Job summary

Central Council Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes is hiring an Early Head Start Teacher in Alaska. The role supports social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of infants and toddlers in a safe learning environment.

You will promote family engagement and follow Head Start standards, with a focus on English, Tlingit, and Haida language acquisition. The position is non-exempt, pay grade 8-9 at $27.79+ DOE, and requires collaboration with tribal staff, caregivers, and component coordinators

• Ability to supervise children and maintain a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Create and monitor a safe, nurturing early care environment for young children.
• Provide active supervision and respond to incidents or emergencies.
• Establish a positive classroom environment representing children and families.
• Offer positive behavior guidance to support social-emotional development.
• Follow curriculum and daily routines to support all development domains.
• Collaborate with Head Start team to deliver comprehensive services.
• Provide family-style meals following CACFP.
