Job summary

The Opportunity Alliance in Portland, ME seeks a Teacher Aide for Head Start to support children ages 3–5 in a safe, nurturing, learning-focused classroom. You will collaborate with the teaching team to foster respectful relationships, assist with transitions, and encourage active participation in developmentally appropriate activities.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent or be attending high school or be enrolled in a GED program or in a CDA credential program to be completed within 2 years of hire.
• One year of center-based teaching, early intervention, home visiting or related work is preferred.
• Knowledge of how culture influences child and family development.
• Ability to work effectively with teams and a commitment to social justice and Head Start's mission.
• Must pass background checks, pre-employment physical and TB screen, and immunizations.
