  • Maintain accountability and maintenance for all equipment.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as required by location management.
  • Work mandatory overtime hours when required by business needs.
  • Inspect vehicle securement devices for fitness and store properly.
  • Assist in repairing and lowering hinge decks.
  • Inspect, repair, install and remove bridge plates.

Job description

R.J. Corman Switching Company is currently seeking a Prepper to join our team in Counce, TN.

Responsibilities:
  • Through the use of backpack blowers and various scraping devices remove all debris and other contaminates which could potentially cause vehicle damage .
  • Inspect and assist in opening and closing railcar doors.
  • Identify repairs that can be performed by mechanics.
  • Determine if railcar or vehicle securement devices need lubrication-if lubrication is required assist in the lubrication of hinge decks, end doors, and chock vehicle securement devices.
  • Maintain accountability and maintenance for all equipment.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as required by location management.
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime hours when operating requirements or other business needs of RJ Corman cannot be fulfilled during regular business hours.
  • Inspect vehicle securement devices to determine their fitness for use then store properly in railcar.
  • Assist in repairing and lowering hinge decks.
  • Inspect, repair, install and remove bridge plates.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
  • GED or High School diploma.
  • Must maintain a valid state drivers license if required to operate company equipment.
  • Meet and maintain all requirements contained in conditions of employment policy.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to constantly work in a outdoor environment, exposed to all weather elements, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions;
  • Ability to frequently open railcar doors using pulling back force of 90lbs and pushing force of 68lbs.
  • Ability to frequently operate gasoline power blower using a constant lateral sweeping motion with your arms.
  • Ability to frequently tolerate fuel and exhaust vapors up to OSHA prescribed levels.
  • Ability to occasionally work in areas with limited lighting.
  • Ability to occasionally climb, using various types of ladders, to heights in excess of 16 feet.
  • Ability to occasionally work in areas of limited lighting.
  • Ability to occasionally stand for periods of time greater than 2 hours.
  • Ability to constantly work in area with less that 60 inches of vertical clearance.
  • Must be able to hear work or safety instructions verbally communicated in normal speaking voice.
  • Constantly required to use bending, squatting, twisting, walking motions on uneven surfaces throughout the entire work shift.
  • Must possess normal depth perception and have a normal peripheral vision in both eyes.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Possess the equilibrium and ability to frequently cross 3-4 foot open spans at heights up to 16 feet.
  • Ability the lift above shoulder height a weight of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 35lbs on your back climbing railcar ladder and crossing between decks.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Must be able to perform specified duties outside in all weather conditions.
  • A rapidly expanding company requires employees to be flexible with altering operating schedules.
  • One must also expect physical work in inclement weather.
  • Must be available to work the established schedule as assigned: Sunday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
