Job summary

R.J. Corman Railroad Group in Jesup, GA is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform locomotive and equipment upkeep, including oil and water checks, lubrication, filter changes, sand, traction motor grease, and cabinet cleaning.

The job emphasizes safe operating procedures and a clean, orderly work area. Experience with welding and rail car repair is preferred, along with familiarity with power and hydraulic tools.

Qualifications

• Experienced in welding preferred.
• Experience in rail car repair preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain locomotive and equipment, including oil, water, lubrication, filters, and cleaning.
• Replace worn components, change filters, and apply grease to traction motors.
• Troubleshoot, repair equipment, and maintain a safe, clean work area.
• Follow operating and safety procedures and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Performmaintenance which includes adding oil to engine, adding sand and waterto engine, lubricating all hinges, replacing all worn dc electric motor brushes within locomotive, changing all filters, adding traction motor grease to motors and removing dirt from electrical cabinets.
• Knowledge of power and hydraulic tools.
• Welding and oxygen/acetylene torching.
• Maintenance of assigned vehicle.
• General repairs of other equipment if necessary.
• Trouble shoots and repairs equipment as needed.
• Maintain Safe and clean work area.
• Observance of Operating and Safety Procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:

• Experienced in welding preferred
• Experience in rail car repair preferred
