Job summary

Classic Club in Palm Desert, California, seeks a seasonal part-time AM/PM Prep Cook to join Troon’s hospitality team. You will follow recipes, ensure product freshness, and help with inventory and general kitchen duties.

This role offers a pay range of $18.00–$22.00 per hour and emphasizes learning, contribution, and growth within a fast-paced property organization.

Responsibilities

• Follow recipes and product directions for proper food preparation.
• Maintain quality control and monitor freshness daily.
• Prepare equipment and operate utensils for weighing, measuring, mixing, and prepping foods.
• Wrap, label, date, stock, rotate and check temperatures of products.
• Receive and inventory food and beverage supplies.
• Clean and sanitize workstation and equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Manager.

Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

General Purpose:

The Food Preparer is responsible for preparing various food products. This is a seasonal position with an expected duration of six months or less.

Essential Duties:

• Follows recipes and/or product directions for proper food preparation.
• Maintains quality control for all products, including monitoring freshness of product daily.
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or cart.
• Prepares appropriate equipment for cooking.
• Operates kitchen utensils and/or equipment used for weighing, measuring, mixing, washing, peeling, cutting, grinding, stirring, straining, slicing, assembling and kneading of food products.
• Ensures proper food handling procedures are followed wrapping, labeling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating and checking temperature of products.
• Receives and inventories food and beverage product and supplies.
• Cleans and sanitizes workstation and equipment.
• Ability to perform any other duties as assigned by Department Manager.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or general educational degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

• Frequently stands, uses hands, talks, hears, tastes and smells.
• Regularly walks and reaches with hands and arms.
• Occasionally sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
• Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Environment/Noise:

• Regularly works in extreme heat (non-weather) and near moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally works in extreme cold (non-weather), wet or humid conditions (non-weather), near toxic or caustic chemicals, and in outdoor weather.
• Noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses:

• Food Safety and Sanitation Training.

• Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
