Job description

Under the direction of the Manager, Executive Chef, and/or Sous Chef, the Prep Cook performs semi-skilled food production for patients, staff, and visitors, including therapeutic diets. Responsibilities include:

1. Accurately preparing food items from standardized recipes based on production sheets and par levels.
2. Cleaning equipment and work areas following established procedures.
3. Operating food service equipment under supervision.
4. Performing related activities as required.
5. Attending scheduled meetings and training sessions.
6. Issuing and inventorying food items.
7. Participating in inventory and cost control in the designated area.
8. Performing computer-related activities as required.

The Prep Cook is responsible for performing job duties aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of food service experience in a hospital, commercial restaurant, or other food service operation.

Additional requirements include:

• Ability to accurately follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to safely handle, dispose of, and mix chemicals following instructions.
