Job Summary : Responsible for the preparation of ingredients and stations used in the cooking process, as well as maintaining the kitchen and ensuring it is clean and sanitized.
Major areas of responsibility :
- Cut or slice meat, poultry, and seafood to prepare for cooking.
- Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving.
- Weigh, portion, and wrap food.
- Adhere to prep list assigned by Chef.
- Rotate food and print the time and date label for food in coolers.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables.
- Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
- Stock storage areas and refrigerators.
- Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
- Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers.
- Inform supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low, and order needed items.
- Assist other kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide with needed items.
- Use manual or electric appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foods.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floor.
- Maintain Food Handler's Certification.
- Maintain a positive and professional approach to coworkers and customers.
