Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Preoperative (Preop) phase in Surgical Services. This full-time day shift role supports the operating room team, delivering direct and indirect nursing care and coordinating patient preparation for surgery.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, Texas RN license, ACLS within 3 months, NRP within 6 months, and 1–2 years of progressive nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current TX RN license in good standing.
• ACLS required within 3 months of hire.
• NRP certification within 6 months for Women’s Hospital employees.
• 1–2 years of progressive nursing experience, preferred.
• Pass competencies for this position.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of staff.
• Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeons, anesthesiologist, and other personnel as needed to ensure good patient care.
• Observes patient for changes in condition.
• Ensures all medications are administered and charted according to policies.
• Identifies and records patient’s response to medication when necessary.
• Promptly reports medication errors.
• Provides orderly progression of schedule and notifies charge personnel of changes.
• Safe care of the patients during their stay.
