Job summary

SCA Health in Baton Rouge, LA is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) in PreOp/PACU to support perioperative care across the perianesthesia continuum.

You will assess preoperative and postoperative status, interpret monitors, develop individualized care plans, administer medications safely and provide education to patients and families. The role requires a nursing degree and current licensure, ACLS/PALS if pediatric care is included, with on-site teamwork and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience.
• Current state licensure to practice.
• BLS/BCLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification if pediatric care is included.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status per policy.
• Interpret information from monitors and describe physiology.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia care plan.
• Implement care including recovery management for various anesthesia types.
• Administer medications safely using the 8 rights.
• Provide hand-off reports to the care team.
• Educate patient and designated support person on perioperative care.
• Protect patient rights, dignity, and privacy.
