Job summary

Bay Area Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pre-op Clinic. The role operates in a day-shift, part-time capacity within the Perianesthesia department, with 40 hours per pay period.

The RN will plan, coordinate, and implement nursing care for surgical patients, ensuring readiness for procedures and proper patient education. Responsibilities include collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, and the care team, documentation in the EMR, and participation in discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Oregon
• American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Proficient in electronic medical records and computer use
• Strong communication and teaching skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced perioperative setting

Responsibilities

• Coordinate interdisciplinary team for patient readiness for surgery
• Review patient status, labs, meds, and learning needs for planned surgery
• Collaborate with surgeon and anesthesia to prevent cancellations
• Assist with perioperative discharge planning and patient education
• Document assessments and care in the medical record
• Provide patient and family teaching and ensure safety in care delivery
• Support supervision of nursing assistants and ensure smooth operation of the clinic
