Job summary

Aurora Health Care seeks a Preadmission Testing Registered Nurse to ensure patients are prepared for surgery. This role conducts preoperative phone assessments, verifies medical records, and ensures all clearances and forms are complete.

The PAT RN reviews instructions, answers questions, and maintains precise EHR documentation to support safe, efficient surgical care. The nurse may float to other units as needed, upholds safety standards, and collaborates with the care team to optimize patient

Qualifications

• Graduate of a board‑approved nursing education program.
• Active RN license with privileges in applicable state(s).
• Bachelor-level or higher nursing education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative phone assessments to verify medical records.
• Ensure required medical clearances and forms are available.
• Review preoperative instructions and answer patient questions.
• Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation.
• May float to other units as needed to meet patient care needs.
• Provide safe, ethical care and escalate issues per policy.
• Support team communication and collaboration to improve care processes.
