Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Preadmission Testing (PAT) Registered Nurse to ensure patients are fully prepared for upcoming outpatient surgeries. The PAT RN conducts preoperative phone assessments, verifies medical records, and ensures required clearances are obtained.

You will support nine Surgical Services areas and serve as a final checkpoint to prevent delays and cancellations. The role emphasizes clinical judgment, documentation accuracy, patient education, and interprofessional

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Active RN license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where providing client nursing services.
• BLS certification required; additional certifications may be needed based on specialty.
• Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.

Responsibilities

• Engages in governance and quality initiatives to improve care processes.
• Applies nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement and evaluate care.
• Monitors patient conditions and adjusts care plans collaboratively.
• Maintains accurate and timely EHR documentation.
• May administer medications and therapies per protocol.
