Job summary

Sushi Roku Austin is hiring a Sushi Chef to join a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen. The role focuses on traditional sushi preparation, sauces, and maintaining high quality with our Tokyo-inspired concepts.

The candidate should have strong communication, a positive attitude, and the ability to work flexible days, nights, and weekends. Experience in Japanese cuisine, sake, and seafood, plus a Food Handler Card, are required.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in a high-end, high-volume restaurant.
• Skilled in traditional sushi and sushi rolls with knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sake, fish and seafood.
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure.
• Strong communication skills with guests and teammates.
• Food Handler Card required upon hire.
• Able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and meet physical demands.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various types of sushi dishes and sauces according to guidelines for quality, portion size, presentation, and safety.
• Maintain knowledge of the restaurant’s food offerings and beverage program.
• Ensure compliance with food service regulations and proper handling procedures.
• Inspect fruits, vegetables and fish quality for consistency.
• Follow plate presentation standards and prepare garnishes.
• Stock and maintain food levels at line stations for smooth service.
• Sterilize utensils and equipment before use.
• Rotate products using FIFO and perform opening/closing duties.
• Keep a clean, sanitary sushi bar and monitor production areas.
• Pursue self-education on food trends and deliver exceptional service.
