Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented Preconstruction Specialist I to support bidding, subcontractor outreach, and compliance efforts in Central, FL.

You will coordinate preconstruction activities with increasing independence, assist with GMP bid packages, and manage MWBE outreach and bid documentation. As a key contact for preconstruction processes, you will support project pursuits, maintain detailed records, and help ensure timely submission of competitive bids.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting preconstruction, estimating, procurement, or construction operations.
• Experience with GMP and competitive bidding processes preferred.
• Strong understanding of bidding procedures, subcontractor outreach, MWBE compliance requirements, and bid documentation.
• Experience coordinating subcontractor outreach and supporting bidding and procurement activities.
• Ability to organize, maintain, and manage bid documentation accurately.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate preconstruction activities with increasing independence and responsibility.
• Assist with QA/QC reviews of GMP bid packages.
• Assist with creating, issuing, and tracking addenda for GMP bid packages.
• Lead GMP Solicitation Assistance activities as primary contact.
• Independently manage MWBE Good Faith Effort outreach, documentation, and compliance tracking.
• Lead iSqFt project setup activities and subcontractor solicitation efforts.
• Track and follow up on bond and insurance requirements.
• Assist with preparation and completion of competitive bid documents.
• Assist with submission of competitive bids and proposals.
• Maintain detailed records of subcontractor participation and outreach.
• Provide backup support for Senior Preconstruction Specialist or Preconstruction Administrative Manager.
• Support process improvements and departmental efficiency initiatives.
