Wharton-Smith, Inc. in Central, FL, seeks a Production Manager II to provide operational coordination across Project Management and Field teams to support the Wharton-Smith Production Management System (PMS) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

The role emphasizes production planning, workflow coordination, and training assistance to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure alignment with project objectives on commercial and water plant construction sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Systems Engineering, or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• 3–5 years of related experience in commercial and/or water plant construction.
• Strong understanding of construction operations, project coordination, and industry practices in commercial/water plant construction.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and elimination of waste.
• Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and support efficient project execution.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Working knowledge of CAD, Adobe, Google SketchUp; familiarity with scheduling software and CM platforms.
• Basic knowledge of video editing and drafting principles.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to collaborate with Production Management and Operations teams.
• Ability to work independently and in deadline-driven construction environments.
• Proficient with standard office tech; capable of handling office tasks.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Construction Production Planning: Coordinate planning sessions, prepare schedules and startup activities, support requirements identification.
• Parade of Trades: Coordinate workflow between crews, subs, suppliers, and field teams; identify interruptions and production constraints; participate in coordination meetings.
• Operational Production Planning: Develop and execute operational plans and production strategies; plan crew assignments, labor and sequencing; coordinate with internal teams and suppliers; identify minimum workzone requirements and make certain tasks.
• Assured Production Planning & Control: Set up and maintain production boards; track weekly plans; participate in reviews and shift meetings; monitor daily activities and variances; provide tracking feedback.
• Implementation and Operational Follow Through: Participate in plan reviews; conduct After Action Reviews; collect operational feedback for learning; provide field support for PMS implementation.
• Corporate Systems Improvement: Engage in continual process improvement; update SOPs and training materials; support standards adoption; train Production Engineers and field personnel; coordinate coverage schedules.
