Job summary

Irving Knight Group seeks a Preconstruction Manager for Texas operations, focusing on data infrastructure and mission-critical construction. You will lead early-stage efforts, develop budgets, estimates and procurement plans for complex data centre projects.

The role requires 7+ years in construction with strong cost control, drawing interpretation and team leadership. Travel to sites and client meetings will be needed as projects progress.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in construction, preconstruction, estimating or cost planning.
  • 3+ years of experience managing preconstruction activities, teams or complex project workstreams.
  • Experience delivering data centre, mission-critical, data infrastructure or similarly technical construction projects.
  • Understanding of critical power, electrical, mechanical, cooling, controls and other major data centre systems.
  • Experience preparing estimates, budgets, bid packages and subcontractor scopes.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, contract documents and technical requirements.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, trade scopes, procurement and project sequencing.
  • Experience managing subcontractor and supplier bidding, proposal evaluation and negotiations.
  • Strong communication, organisation, leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to identify project risks, scope gaps, cost impacts and long-lead procurement requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn relevant estimating, takeoff, bidding and project-management software.
  • Degree, technical qualification or equivalent practical construction experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as required.

  • Identify scope gaps, cost risks, procurement challenges and schedule impacts.
  • Maintain accurate estimates, budgets and preconstruction documentation.
  • Support the transition from preconstruction to project delivery.
  • Manage preconstruction teams, multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
